The following lesson plans were designed to complement annual commemorative days of significance to Métis people. Lesson plans are in constant production, including the incorporation of additional grades and commemorative days. Please continue to check for updates.

SPOTLIGHT FEATURE

For the months of December and January, the spotlight features include a Christmas lesson, and a New Years lesson.

In the Christmas lesson, pre-kindergarten students can explore Métis culture through the story “Métis Christmas Mittens,” written and illustrated by Leah Marie Dorion.

The following Truth & Reconciliation Day tribute activity packages are adaptable to all ages and grade groups. Equipped with instructions for creating your own tribute activity, as well as supplemental materials, this package is an excellent way to mark this day with your students.
