Every summer competitors of all ages and experience levels step forward to share their talents, uphold Metis culture, and be part of something bigger. From the rhythm of the fiddle, the energy of the stomping feet, the voices carried across the grounds, and the grit of the Voyageur games – this is the part of Batoche where tradition comes to life.
And the prizes? Besides bragging rights? Cash money.
Whether you’re coming to compete for the first time, or a seasoned performer, you’re a part of living tradition and there’s a place for you at Batoche.

- Advanced Registration closes July 6th at 5:00pm, there are limited spots in each competition available.
- Individuals who are being paid to perform at Batoche are not eligible to enter.
- Registration on-site during the festival will be on a first come first serve basis and is not guaranteed.
- All competitors must agree to, sign and complete a waiver including the rights to be filmed and photographed.
- All entrants under the age of 16 must have parental/guardian consent.
Voyageur Games Competitions
Traditional competition showcasing resilience, ingenuity, and respect for the land—qualities that defined voyageurs and trappers.
Fiddle Competitions
Competition categories include Junior, Youth, Intermediate and Senior.
Jigging Competitions
Competition categories include mini-Michif, Junior, Youth, Intermediate and Senior.
